Due to recent events surrounding the coronavirus outbreak and government advice, VR Simulators will temporarily close it’s Glasgow centre.
We have been monitoring the news very closely and the recommendations of the government and the decisions of other leisure industry attractions. Most have implemented increased hygiene measures, and while we followed similar protocols with the installation of hygiene stations, disposable gloves, one use balaclavas etc, we feel that we must act further to stop the escalation of COVID-19.
The problem we are facing, is that we have seen some businesses ravaged by negative feedback on social media for closing too early and cancelling bookings, while others have been hit with similar negative feedback for remaining open, and it does feel as though no decision is the right one.
The future of the business is not under threat and we have just received delivery of our new simulators, VR headsets, chassis, seats, graphics cards, processors and the keys to our new workshop which will take our business to the next level when we re-open. All customers who have future bookings can either re-schedule or get a refund and all gift vouchers will also be extended for a period of twelve months.
We are in a fortunate position compared to some in the leisure industry and we will get through this period. However, we feel it’s important to stress that if closing the venue saves one life then that is more than enough to justify our decision.
We would like to wish everyone the best of luck, especially all the other businesses and individuals who are struggling at this time. Our staff have been so understanding of the situation, and I would like to thank them for their efforts. However for now, VR Simulators is going into temporary hibernation, and we cannot wait to wake the sleeping giant as our new simulators will be worth the wait.
The Leeds venue will be updating its customers with an announcement at the weekend and we will announce nearer the time when we are planning on opening again. However, at the moment this will be based on the government’s advice.
As a family business we are absolutely gutted and devastated to have to do this, but we will be back soon and better than ever before.
