VR Simulators have opened A new VR racing centre in Leeds
VR Simulators have now opened a new franchised virtual reality racing centre, in Leeds with 14 simulators offering access to 180 cars and 80 tracks.
VR Simulators in Glasgow is a virtual reality racing centre that was established in February 2018. The centre has become a popular stop with stag and hen parties, birthday parties, corporate events, and other groups. Following its success, the company has opened its doors to franchisees and its first franchised branch is now open in Leeds with the new franchisee Brodie Cotter.
The new VR Simulators Leeds centre is based at Unit 3, 1 Little Neville Street, Leeds, LS1 4ED. It will feature 14 motion simulators and is fully licensed to offer beverages. The company plans to expand to offer food in the coming months and they will also offer the opportunity for drivers in Leeds to compete with racers in the Glasgow centre.
Virtual Reality was introduced, in its modern iteration, in the 1980s. However, it wasn’t until the 21st
Century that it started to become popular with the average user. At this time, VR hardware became more readily available, in the shape of mobile and PC headsets, while VR experiences could be found in limited form in a variety of locations.
Home VR still has limitations, not least those driven by the prohibitive cost of the best hardware. VR Simulators in Glasgow brought high quality hardware and compelling VR content to its visitors and has enjoyed continued success since opening. This success has led to the company opening its doors to franchisees, who will use the same hardware and software, and operate under the same banner, as VR Simulators. The Leeds premises will be the first franchised centre to open its doors, but there are plans for more in the future.
Part of the reason for VR Simulators’ success has been what it describes as its 5D racing experience, incorporating motion systems and wind generation software. John Kerr, Managing Director of VR Simulators said, “the experience is as close to real life as you can get without being behind the wheel of a real racing car at a real circuit.”
Karl Lee, the General Manager for VR Simulators Leeds Franchise commented, “The new centre will cater to many groups of people, as well as individuals, and it will feature high-end simulators utilising top end graphics cards, racing spec pedals and steering unit providing a lifelike experience for young and older alike. VR Simulators are perfectly based in a great city and ideal location of Granary Wharf, surrounded by businesses, restaurants and quality bars.”
